How to install HomePod Software Beta

Before proceeding, keep in mind that beta software can introduce bugs, unstable features, and other issues that may affect performance.

Disabling HomePod software betas:
1. Open the Home app.
2. Go to Home Settings > Software Update > HomePod Beta Updates.
3. Select the HomePod you'd like to remove from the Beta Software Program.

Switching Back to the Public Releases:
1. Wait until the next public release becomes available.
2. Once it's out, update your HomePod to the public version.

Step 1:

If you're new to using a beta version, open your browser and visit beta.apple.com (public betas). Sign in with your Apple Account and agree to the prompted agreements. Once completed, proceed to step 2.

If you've already used betas before, you can skip to step 2.

The image below shows the Apple Developer website. However, for this tutorial, we're using the public beta, as there is no developer beta available for the HomePod.

Step 2:

To receive beta updates, follow these steps: First, install the iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 beta, then open the Home app, then go to Home Settings > Software Update > HomePod Beta Updates.

Select the HomePod you'd like to enroll in the Beta Software Program, then choose HomePod Software Beta, then return to the Software Update screen and install the latest HomePod beta!
